Description: Auckland Anniversary Weekend. A chance to ride around the Hauraki Plains and the South Auckland area in either a 400km or 600 km ride.
All rides start and finish at the gated entry to the Miranda Hot Pools. The two rides are on mostly different courses. Because the 600 only does 350kms for the first leg, the 400km ride ended up with a demoralising 50km extra bit to finish. This has been eliminated for the 400km ride, by putting the out and back dog leg at the start.
Note the start time is 6AM. Be there at least 15 minutes before hand for briefing.
400kms
A few major adjustments to the route, to get some better food stops along the way, and to eliminate the 50km extra at the end. The 400km route does the 50km extra bit at the beginning. This means that the first checkpoint will be at Ngatea (71kms). The route to Te Kauwhata, is different, and is now at the 162km mark. The path from Te Kauwhata goes down the East side of the Waikato river back to Morrinsville for the next checkpoint of (230kms). After that it goes on down to Matamata (299kms), and then returns to Ngatea for checkpoint (382kms), as the Z station will be open then, and then the final blip on to Miranda to finish.
Start time is 6am, with a time limit of 27 hours (9am 25th January finish time).
Checkpoints are:
71kms: Ngatea
162kms: Te Kauwhata
230kms: Morrinsville

Leg Two, is a 250km run up the East coast of the Hunuas, over to Clevedon, across to Takanini, and out to Clarks Beach on the West coast.
