The turnoff to go around Lake Omapere is at Imms Road. If you miss this, you miss the lake Road Loop.
The Lake Omapere loop is best done on 30mm plus tyres. I have attempted it on 28mm tyres, and the gravel is just too loose, deep and soft to ride on.
